Thankful for a Community That Cares
As November begins, we want to take a moment to recognize the many people who help make Someplace Safe’s work possible. To our donors, volunteers, community partners, and friends: thank you! Your kindness, generosity, and continued support make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families throughout our communities.
Over the past year, Someplace Safe provided safety, options, and hope to over 4,000 survivors and individuals. Behind that number are community members facing difficult circumstances, making important decisions, and searching for support. During these moments, having someone who will listen and help explore options can make all the difference.
One client shared:
“I was overwhelmed by the kindness, support, and quick actions. Just so amazed.”
These words are a powerful reminder of why our work matters. They also reflect the impact of a caring community. Because of supporters like you, Someplace Safe can be there when individuals and families need someone to turn to, helping them access safety, resources, and support during some of life’s most difficult moments.
Your Support Helps Meet a Growing Need
As we reflect on the past year, we are especially grateful for the generosity of our communities as more individuals and families turn to Someplace Safe for assistance.
Over the past year, Someplace Safe experienced a 9% increase in individuals assisted, including a 12% increase in domestic violence survivors served.
Particularly concerning were the significant increases in youth accessing advocacy services. Someplace Safe experienced a 221% increase in youth domestic violence survivors assisted, a 70% increase in youth sexual violence and exploitation survivors assisted, and a 50% increase in youth victims of other crimes assisted.
The growing need was also reflected in other services. After-hours crisis calls increased by 9%, while web chat contacts rose by 64%. Our Parenting Time Centers also experienced a 22% increase in intakes and an 11% increase in supervised parenting time visits.
These numbers represent more than statistics. They represent individuals and families reaching out for help, often during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. They also remind us how important it is to have caring people and communities standing behind our mission.
Helping Provide Safety, Options & Hope
At a time when funding for victim services remains uncertain and the need for assistance continues to grow, community support is more important than ever.
Whether you have made a donation, attended a fundraiser, volunteered your time, shopped at one of our thrift stores, or simply helped spread the word about our services, you are making a difference. Every act of kindness and generosity helps strengthen our ability to serve local individuals and families in need.
As we enter the holiday season, there are many ways to continue supporting Someplace Safe’s mission. You can make a financial gift, contact us about holiday needs, explore volunteer opportunities, or help share information about our free and confidential services.
Financial gifts may be made online at www.someplacesafe.info/donate/. Additional ways to support our work and local families in need this holiday season can be found at www.someplacesafe.info/giving-opportunities/.
This November, and throughout the year, we are thankful for you. Your compassion and generosity help make our work possible and remind those facing difficult circumstances that they are not alone.
Thank you for helping Someplace Safe provide safety, options, and hope. We are truly grateful to be part of a community that cares.
